Horrible news coming from the Bulgarian capitol as an England fan has sadly passed away in hospital after being found in a critical way at a round 10am.
An England fan has reportedly died in Bulgaria.
Gareth Southgate’s side take on Bulgaria on Monday evening, with the Euro 2020 qualifier set to kick-off in Sofia.
The Three Lions supporter has reportedly passed away after being discovered in a “helpless” condition in the Bulgarian capital.
The fan was aged 32 and died in hospital after being discovered at 10am on Monday, October 14.
A spokeswoman for the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior said: “The incident took place at 10am today. He is a British citizen, 32 years old, at 10am and he was taken to hospital but he has died and the police are now working to clarify all the circumstances.”
“He was found at the centre of the city, in the street,” she added.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office said it was unable to verify the death, saying: “Our staff are supporting a British man following an incident in Sofia and are in contact with the Bulgarian Police.”
England supporters clashed with police on Friday evening, with Gareth Southgate’s side in Prague where they lost to Czech Republic.
Harry Kane scored an early penalty but the penultimate qualifying match ended in a 2-1 defeat.
