Manchester United Fans Can’t Believe How Much They Still Pay Sanchez

2 min read

Manchester United are paying out on loan winger Alexis Sanchez more than Sheffield United’s entire team earn.

Sanchez is currently on loan at Serie A side Inter Milan who pay £4.5 million of his £21 million a year salary per spotrac.

That means United are still paying £16.5 million of his wage while Chris Wilder’s side earn £14 million per year cumulatively.

Sanchez will go down as one of the biggest flops in Premier League history.

He joined United in January 2018 from Arsenal in a deal which saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan move across to London.

But Sanchez never settled at Old Trafford and only scored five goals in 45 games while on his obscene wage.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have the largest wage bill in the Premier League at £171 million.

It’s a testament to Sheffield United who under Wilder have taken the league by storm and currently sit eight in the table.

By comparison, United are in 10th and are one point behind ‘The Blades’.

The two sides meet at Bramall Lane this afternoon.

The economic differences between the squads are further stretched when you evaluate both club’s summer transfer activity.

Sheffield United’s most expensive side would be worth around £34 million.

But that could be halved if £17 million record signing Oli McBurnie is left on the bench.

In contrast, United signed former Blades academy player Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka for £80 million and £50 respectively in the summer.

Their starting eleven will likely include the defensive duo as well as £52 million midfielder Fred.

One of Sheffield United’s key players is goalkeeper Dean Henderson who is on loan from ‘The Red Devils’.

He’s ineligible to play in the game and United boss Solskjaer spoke positively about the 22-year-old’s potential future at Old Trafford.
